Q4C Events & Updates

Hi everyone!

Well, now that summer is winding down, and school is back in session - many of you have asked about some new activities for the Q4C Queens. So - here you go:

Appearances:

August 30 - Veteran’s Memorial Wall Benefit Motorcycle Ride - McDonough, Heritage Park - this is an all day event to honor our heroes, both living and departed. Funds raised from the ride will benefit the Veterans Wall Of Honor at the Park, which is expected to be dedicated and opened officially on 1 November 2008. Courtney and I will set up on Friday evening - you are welcome to join us throughout the day - anytime after 10:00 am. Wear something comfortable, respectable, crown and sash.

August 30 - Celebrate Freedom Concert - Conyers Horse Park - Free Christian Concert - Top Artists on the Charts and it’s completely FREE - this one is JUST for fun! Those that attend will be asked to hand out bags of beads with our business card attached, as a way of promoting Queens For Courage. NO PRESSURE! Something cute and comfortable, crown and sash. Go to www.thefishatlanta.com for artists who will be performing. Mercy Me and many others are scheduled to attend. Courtney and Lilly went last year, met some great artists, and had a terrific time!

August 31 - Salem Baptist Church - McDonough - Festival of Light - sharing the gospel and celebrating our freedom of religion with a HUGE fireworks display (AWESOME event!) - Courtney, Elise, and Lilly participated in this last year. Literally thousands of people and their families converge on the Salem property for an afternoon of fun, hayrides, food, hearing the gospel from Pastor Rick Statham, and concluding with the fireworks. Q4C will have a covered table area where we can sell raffle tickets and promote the upcoming Golf Tournament and Pageant. Wear something RWB, Crown and sash (I know it’s summer, but please remember where you are on this occasion) :)

October 11 - Celebrate LiberTee Junior Golf Tournament - sponsored by Rum Creek Golf Course - Stockbridge. There is room for 18 - 2 person teams - spots are beginning to fill up! Look under “Forms” tab at the website for the registration packet. If a few of you could be present to help with registration and hand out the trophies, that would be great. Day starts at 0800! I will send you a flyer today to send out to as many people as you can. It can be a bit chilly in the morning, but quickly warms up - bring something to keep you warm. (lesson learned from last year!)haha

November 1 - Dedication of the Veteran’s Wall of Honor - Heritage Park - McDonough, GA - more information to follow.

November 2 - Celebrate Freedom Pageant - Henry County Performing Arts Center - McDonough - 16 crowns, titles, and a whole lot of fun! Event starts at 2:00 p.m. with the little ones. If you are moving up to a new category, you may recompete. If you do compete, please understand that you will not be part of the crowning activities. IF you are crowning, we would like a short video presentation of your year as reigning queen for your farewell walk. If you need additional photos for your video, let me know. We will need LOTS of help with this one as I learned very quickly last year that I could not do everything myself. If it wasn’t for Sharon, Monica, and several others, we definitely would not have been successful! :)

Remember - even if you crown the new queen this year…ALL of our queens will be invited to every event. Once you are a Q4C girl - you will ALWAYS be one.

November 11 - American Legion Post #55 - Queens For Courage (all 2007/2008/2009 queens invited) will present this years check to the Commander - Jim Chafin.

Crowns are already here and the new sashes are on their way! Our new sash designer this year is absolutely wonderful and has all kinds of goodies in store for us. We have 4 examples of the new sash and I think all will appreciate the attention to detail and professional look. Any potential queen would be excited to win one of these! With that said, I’d also like to send out a HUGE thank you to our new web designer. Everyone seems to really like the new site, and she is VERY responsive and professional. If anyone ever needs their own website, or you know someone looking for one, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with the right person.

There will be plenty of other events and invites coming up - watch the board to stay in touch. As soon as I figure out the calendar feature on this website - I’ll be using it as well! Many of you have asked about the blog feature….now, how well do you know me??? BLOG??? I’m trying, but I think my poor webmaster has given up on me!haha

Really, we look forward to seeing everyone again soon - and look forward to making new friends as we move into the new year. As you can see in our photo gallery, you and your families have stayed very busy. This organization would not be what it is without you, and most will never know how much we truly value, appreciate, and love each one of you!

God Bless, and have a great day!

P.S. - if you’ve made it this far….post a message or a comment on the board - even if it’s just to send a happy thought to one of your sister Queens! BE NICE! :)

Love to all,
Molly
